Mrs. Ruby Fincher Morgan

Mrs. Ruby Fincher Morgan, age 93, of Palmetto, Ga., formerly of McDonough passed away Oct. 11, 2008. Mrs. Morgan was born in Henry County the daughter of the late Eunice Haynes and Claude Lumpkin Fincher. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed being with her family, cooking, and working in her flower garden, doing cross stitch, sewing and reading. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a prior member of Sardis Baptist Church. Her husband, Horace Lee Morgan and brothers, Raymond Fincher and Robert Fincher preceded her in death.

Survivors are her children, Yvonne Ragan (Mack) of Conyers, Linda Morgan of McDonough, Dianne Collins (Donald) of Fla.; 5 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Morgan will be Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008 - 2 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Preston Bridges officiating. Interment will be at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. Willis H. Smith

Willis H. Smith, age 76, was born on July 31, 1932 and died on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Pope Dickson & Son Morrow Chapel with Rev. Earl Pirkle officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Garden.

His family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 from 5-8 p.m.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry C. Smith; mother, Nannie B. Smith; brother, Sanford F. Smith; and sisters, Johnnie Mae Crawford and Ruby Nelson.

Mr. Smith was born on July 31, 1932 in Sweetwater, Tenn. He served in the United States Navy and in 1951 married Anna, his wife of 51 years.

He is survived by his children; son and daughter-in-law, Willis C. and Diane Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Charles D. and Lorian Smith; daughter, Shelia Thomas; son, Gregory M. Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Terry D. and Tommy Cowan; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas H. and Deandra Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy D. and Steve Wilson; sister, Agnes Nelson of Knoxville; brother, Jerry W. Smith of Knoxville; sister, Jane A. Britt of Kentucky; sister, Helen R. Siddens of Kentucky; 25 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Tammy Head Shedd

Tammy Head Shedd, 41 of Locust Grove, Ga., passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008. Tammy was a member of Berean Baptist Church in Ellenwood, Ga. where she sang in the choir and was a devoted Christian woman. Tammy was a strong family woman, a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt, but most of all a true friend. She enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with her husband Steve and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors surrounded by nature's beauty. Her beautiful green eyes and smile will truly be missed, but her legacy will live on through her wonderful children and family. She is preceded in death by her brother, Michael Head, Jr. "Smooth".

She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Steve Shedd of Locust Grove, Ga.; daughter, Jaclyn Shedd of Locust Grove, Ga.; sons, Paul Shedd of Stockbridge, Ga., Nicholas Shedd of Locust Grove, Ga.; parents, Mike & Carolyn Head of Ellenwood, Ga.; sisters and brother-in-law, Jamie & Josh Till of Stockbridge, Ga., Kim Patterson of Ellenwood, Ga., Richard (Richie) Patterson of Covington, Ga.; nieces, Autumn, Kayla Bug; nephews, Austin, Joshua Jr., and Joah "Love Bug"; sisters-in-law, Christine Nelson & Kim Stevens, both of Concord, N.C. Donald J. (Jack) Branan

Donald J. (Jack) Branan, age 78 of Austell, Ga., died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008. He was born in McDonough, Ga. to the late Benjamin Cloud and Mary Brannan Branan. Mr. Branan was preceded in death by his wife, Takako "Kay" Kitano Branan.

Mr. Branan is survived by his daughters; Mary Weatherley, Houston, Texas and Robin Pede, Austell, Ga.; sons, Wayne Branan, Lawrenceville, Ga. and David Branan, Marysville, Wash.; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters, and brother, Thomas L. Branan, Pleasanton, Calif.

JB Batchelor

JB Batchelor, age 83 of McDonough, formerly of Milledgeville, Ga., died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008. He was born in Eatonton, Ga. to the late Jeffrey and Mamie Black Batchelor. JB was an avid reader, Braves fan and Georgia Bulldog fan. He followed his son all over the state while Keith was playing and coaching. Most important to him was his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine in 1996.

Mr. Batchelor is survived by his son, Keith Batchelor, McDonough, Ga.; grandchildren, Kerri Batchelor and Corey Batchelor, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 at Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Dowdy officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery, Milledgeville, Ga. at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ELCA Building Fund. James Michael Rape

James Michael Rape, age 56 of Stockbridge, died on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. at Pope Dickson & Son - Morrow Chapel with Pastor David Christian officiating. His family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday, Oct. 12 from 5-8 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Gene Rape of Stockbridge; sons, James Brian (Kathia Elizabeth) Rape of Jonesboro, John Eric of Stockbridge; mother, Betty (B-Bye) Rape of McDonough; brother, Albert R. (Jane) Rape of McDonough; and sister, Yvonne Arnette Henderson of Jackson.

He was employed by AAFES at Fort Gillem for 29 years and was a member of the natural band, Natural Fax of Henry County.
