'Go through hell' at Corinth Baptist Church

Corinth Baptist Church of Jonesboro will perform "Odyssey," its annual, walk-through, dramatic presentation of spiritual perspectives, from now until Oct. 26, from 6:30-9 p.m. Come see what happens when four teenagers get trapped in a house fire, die, and reach their final destinations. Attendees will move from scene to scene, watching the characters move through life, witnessing the decisions they make, and the consequences. The characters then face the judgment seat of Christ where their eternal sentence is handed down. It is an exciting and penetrating portrayal of an experience we will all pass through some day. The first annual Youth Gospel Choice Awards (YGCA) will take place at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center, located at 2530 Mt. Zion Parkway in Jonesboro, on Oct. 25, from 5-7:30 p.m. The YGCA is a spin-off of the annual Gospel Choice Awards. Gospel groups from around the metro area will be recognized in the categories of: Best Holy Hip Hop artist, Best Steppers, Best Youth Choir, Best Mime, Best Female Vocalist, and Best Male Vocalist. The Taizé Prayer service is a meditative experience that has been enjoyed by people, young and old, around the world. Its beginnings are in a small community called Taizé, located in France. Roger Louis Schutz-Marsauche, a reformed minister, was instrumental in its development. The overarching theme of a Taizé Worship Service is reconciliation through prayer.
