Philip Roy Mewbourne
Philip was born Jan. 20, 1952, in Columbus, Ga., the second of four children of Lloyd Brown "Bodie" and Tommie Mewbourne. He lived the majority of his life in Clayton County having graduated from Forest Park High School, having attended Clayton Junior College, and having worked for the Clayton County Water Authority for 33 years.
The highlight for Phil during his brief retirement was the realization of his desire to serve on the mission field in Celia, Costa Rica, and Arusha, Tanzania. While in Tanzania, he met and befriended Mike Akyoo, a pastor in outlying Karatu.He also enjoyed fishing and camping trips.
Phil was preceded in death by his father in 2002, and a sister, Jacquelyn Rose, who died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia I. Mewbourne, of Peachtree City; son, Mike Mewbourne, of Atlanta; daughters, Jessica White, of Loganville, and Monica Mewbourne, of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughter, Kyla White; sister, Kay Brookshire, of Atlanta, and brother, Keith Mewbourne, of Cartersville.
A celebration of Phil's life will take place at Grace Evangelical Church in Fayetteville on Saturday, Nov.1 at 1 p.m, with Mark Conklin presiding.The family will receive friends one hour prior. Mr. Bill Williamson, 70, of Jonesboro, passed away, Oct. 27, 2008. Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, Inc., Jonesboro/Stockbridge is in charge of arrangements.
Janice Cartwright, of Ellenwood, passed away Oct. 28, 2008.
She is survived by her daughters, Joi and John Liscar, of Columbus, Janie and Robbie Ross, of Columbus; sons, Charlie and Kathy Cartwright, of Ellenwood, Bill and Margaret Cartwright, of Marietta; sister, Phyllis Morrow Edwards, of Lanett, Ala., and 9 grandchildren.

Mr. Marvin Reese
May 19, 1938 - Oct. 29, 2008
Mr. Earnest Marvin Reese, 70, of Zebulon, passed away Oct. 29, 2008. He was born in Huntsville, Ala., and was preceded in death by his parents, David Candler Reese and Annie Ophelia Carter Reese; his sister, Betty Welch, and grandmother, Maude Gold.
He served in the United States Air Force and was a truck driver, retiring from McCrory's stores. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a spiritual man and the loving father of six children. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Becky Reese; sister, Zina Vollrath, of Jesup; children, Keith Reese, of McDonough, Tim Reese, of Jonesboro, Tammy Irby, of Concord, Robin Parham, of Thomaston, Bruce Reese, of Millbrook, Ala., and Brian Reese, of Zebulon; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home, with Rev. Ted Moody officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Zebulon. Friends may visit the family on Friday evening, from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
