Kathryn "Kathy" Standridge
Kathryn "Kathy" Standridge, age 70, of Stockbridge, Ga., died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008. She was born in Charlotte, N.C. to the late Frederick Adolphus Brooks and Kathleen Carson Brooks. Kathy loved to cook and was currently writing a cookbook. She was active in her church and prayer group at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church. She was a nurse for 23 years and was employed by Piedmont Hospital. Kathy graduated from Decatur High School Class of 1956.
Mrs. Standridge is survived by her husband, Richard Lee Standridge; children, Dana Ray, Teresa Kegley, Carol Hendrix, and Chris Montroy; three grandchildren, Suzanne Kegley, Amarin and Thomas Montroy; sister, Sara Bartlett; and additional family members include Mrs. Robin Standridge Martinelli and Todd Standridge.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008 at St. James The Apostle Catholic Church with Father John Murphy officiating. A private interment will follow at the Decatur Cemetery at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends Monday, Sept. 1, 2008 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Curtis McLeroy
Mr. Curtis McLeroy, age 88 of Riverdale, passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2008. Mr. McLeroy was a retired employee of the Ford Motor Company. He worked at the Hapeville Ford Plant for 30 years prior to his retirement. Mr. McLeroy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Riverdale. Funeral services for Mr. McLeroy were conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Riverdale with Rev. Jeff Lowe officiating. The burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. McLeroy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gertrude Scott McLeroy of Riverdale; one daughter, Deborah Deese of Riverdale; 4 granddaughters, Janie Brooks, Jana Beach, Amanda Armistead and Jennifer Waters; 3 great grandsons, Landon and Kaleb Brooks and Avery Armistead; 1 great granddaughter, Gracie Armistead; his twin brother, Cannon McLeroy and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. McLeroy was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Cannon McLeroy and Eula Archer McLeroy, and a son, Douglas McLeroy.
Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, Tara Chapel has charge of the funeral services for Mr. Curtis McLeroy.
