Police want help in homicide case

Clayton Police detectives are asking for help in solving the murder of a 49-year-old Atlanta man, who was last seen at a park, and found dead in a vacant shopping center.

Randy Jones, of Springside Drive, S.E., in Atlanta, was found dead in an abandoned shopping center on Monday, Aug. 25. Police responded to the former Kmart shopping plaza, at 6200 Frontage Road, at about 10:30 a.m., and found the man, who had been shot several times.

The body was identified as that of Randy Jones, born April 10, 1959. An autopsy concluded he'd been killed by the multiple gunshots.

More than 10 days later, detectives didn't have any solid leads, and very little information to work with. Jones was reportedly last seen on Friday, Aug. 22, at about 8:30 p.m., on Cleveland Avenue in Atlanta.

He would "often frequent the areas of Cleveland Avenue and Browns Mill Road," according to police, and "frequented the location at 365 Cleveland Ave."

Police believe he left the Cleveland Avenue address -- a park, recreation center and swimming pool -- in a tan, two-door car.

Anyone who saw Jones, the weekend of Aug. 22, or who has any information about his death, is asked to call Detective Tom Martin at (770) 477-3635.
