Becky Mae Strickland Barton
Becky Mae Strickland Barton, 55, of Forest Park, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008. She is survived by her sons, William "Billy" Strickland, and John Barton, both of McDonough; parents, Ralph Henry Strickland and Imogene Ward, of Forest Park; sisters, Peggy Bryant, of Griffin, Louise Strickland, Patsy LeCroy, both of Forest Park, Debra Sullivan, of Stockbridge, Pamela Tedder, of McDonough, Ginger Ellis, of Forest Park; six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barton was a homemaker. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, at Starr Park in Forest Park at Pavilion 3, at 3 p.m. All family and friends welcome.
Curtis Vinson Patrick
Curtis Vinson Patrick, of Union City, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008. He served in the Navy during World War II. He worked at Colonial Stores for 30 years prior to joining West Building Materials, where he was an Executive Vice President.
He was a former member of New Hope Baptist Church, Lakewood, where he served as choir director, deacon and was on the board of trustees. During his employment with West, he was transferred to Sarasota, Fla., where he also was choir director and deacon at Kensington Park Baptist Church. Upon moving back to Atlanta in 1985, he became a member, deacon and Sunday School teacher at Jonesboro First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Doris Moody Patrick; his parents, Elijah B. Patrick and Roxie Kenedy Patrick; his brothers, Vernon Patrick and the Rev. Bill Patrick, and his sisters, Bertie Cate Matthews, Inez Patrick, and Patsy Odom.
He is survived by his mother-in-law, Annie Elmina Moody; his children; son, Michael Curtis Patrick and daughter-in-law Laura Strait Patrick, of Orofino, Idaho; son, David Vinson Patrick and partner Thomas Tryon, of Orlando, Fla.; and daughter, Janice Patrick Blackmon, of Moreland, Ga.; grandchildren, Stephanie Patrick Garrett, of Locust Grove, Jason Patrick and wife, Samantha Shelley Patrick, of Boise, Idaho, Melinda Patrick, of Orofino, Idaho, Jessica and Ashley Blackmon, of Moreland, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Ariel Patrick and Zachary McLean, of Locust Grove. He also leaves behind siblings; Jack and Betty Patrick, Bo-Jim and Barbara Patrick, Robert and Ruth Patrick, Kenneth and Vera Patrick, Danny and Ruby Patrick, Ionia and Leonard Lynn, Eloise and Jimmy Williams, and Diane and Fred Martin; as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro in the Chapel, with the remains placed in state at 10 a.m. The Rev. Irvin Pearre will officiate. Interment will be at Westview Cemetery.

Mr. Leonard P. Wilson, Sr.
Mr. Leonard P. Wilson, Sr., 74, of Jonesboro, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Helen Wilson; two daughters, Sandra and Patricia Wilson; and his brother, Gerald Wilson.
Those left to cherish Mr. Wilson's memories include his wife, Annie Mae Wilson; two sons, Leonard P. Wilson, Jr,. and wife Lisa, Larry J. Wilson and wife, Anne; four daughters, Cathy Dukes and husband, Mike, Barbara Smith and husband, Charlie, Brenda Scruggs and husband, Samuel, Janet Willis and husband, Sammy; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his sister, Doris II Wilson; and brother, Joseph D. Wilson.
Funeral services for Mr. Wilson will be held Sunday, Sept. 21, at Horis A. Ward Tara Chapel at 2 p.m. Friends may visit the family Saturday evening, from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
