A College Park man was found dead in a graveyard, sitting in the driver's seat of a red Audi with his gun, and his girlfriend's cell phone.

Grave diggers at Carver Memorial Gardens, 350 Upper Riverdale Road, called Clayton County police on Monday, at about 11:45 a.m. There was a burial at the graveyard on Monday morning, but after everyone left, the car was still there, with a man inside leaning against the door.

Officer Tim Owens, spokesman for the police department, said the 911 call reported that the man in the Audi was either hurt, or sick.

Police found 30-year-old David Wayne Price in the car in the graveyard, an apparent victim of suicide.

"He still had a Ruger 9 mm semi-automatic pistol in his right hand," Officer A.D. Melvin wrote in the police report. "[He] was leaning to the left and appeared to have a single gunshot wound to the right side of his head."

The car, an Audi Q7 SUV, was registered to the man's girlfriend, Owens said.

"They ran the tag, and it came back registered to the girl. They called her, but when they called the cell phone, it rang on the seat next to him," Owens said.

Fulton County police officers ran a "welfare check," on the couple's 3367 Estes Drive home, in College Park, and found the woman had been shot and seriously injured.

The woman -- whose name has not been released by Fulton County police -- was reportedly in very critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday.

Police believe Price shot his girlfriend, attempting to kill her, and then drove to the Clayton County cemetery to kill himself.

His mother died a few months ago, and is buried at Carver Memorial Gardens, next to Price's own plot.

"They [he and his mother] had bought their plots together, side-by-side," Owens said.
