We live in a fallen world. Ever since Adam and Eve listened to the temptation of the serpent, Satan, and disobeyed God, mankind has lived in a wicked, sinful and fallen world.
All through the ages since the original sin and the fall of man, people have treated their fellow men in the most heinous, wicked and inhuman ways. Even if we could produce a list of all the evil man has done to man through the ages, I doubt if it would be equal to today's sinful treatment of our fellow men.
Our jails are full of those who have murdered their brothers and sisters in more awful ways than we can name. Every day, we hear of murder, of rape and robbery; there are many who have beaten and broken their brothers and left them for dead.
Just recently, we heard of children stabbing and killing their grandparents, and it is said that drugs and immoral sex were involved. One could easily ask, "Oh, Lord, what is this world coming to?" Another startling thought, if all who are guilty of these crimes were caught and prosecuted, our jails would not hold them!
We live in a fallen world and it seems that many people are more than willing to commit these crimes, and are free in our country and other countries to carry out their evil desires. Please read Paul's statements in Romans 1:18-32. If you didn't know he was writing about how people acted in his day and earlier, would you not think he was writing about our world today?
Can we, the honest and Christian people of our country, survive these evil days? I believe we can, with God's help and leadership in our lives. There are several reasons why I feel this way. First -- Phil. 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This is a challenge so great that mere man cannot survive alone!
We must have and we must continually seek God's guidance and help to fight off the temptations of the Devil, and defeat the evil of our times. With God on our side, we cannot fail, for Christ has already defeated the Devil and provided victory over death and the grave for those who love and believe in Him. The Bible also says, "Greater is He that is in me than he who is in the world."
Second -- All Christians need to be active witnesses and win the lost with the power of the Holy Spirit. There are many all over our country who are spiritually lost, and are pawns of the Devil and doing his bidding, whether they know it or not.
These need to come to Jesus Christ, repent of their sinful ways and begin to live a Christ-centered life. This witnessing is the main job of the Christian.
Many say they just can't do it; they can't talk with their fellow man and tell them about Christ and what he has done for them. They are afraid of losing friendship or making people feel uncomfortable or being unable to answer questions that might be asked, and on and on go the excuses.
Meanwhile, people go on listening to Satan and his lies and continuing on their path to destruction. If we would discipline our lives and determine to witness for Christ, He would empower us and teach us to be soul winners.
In Christ, we can change the world!
We can have the joy of seeing lost people come to Jesus and live for Him because of our witness.
Third -- We know when people are saved, when they repent of their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit comes into their life and leads and teaches them how to live as Jesus lived. He begins the process of making them more like Christ every day of their lives. Jesus says for Christians to do good and love their fellow man, to go and make disciples and teach them how to live for Him.
With Christ, we can reach the world and change it for Him.
Father, I pray You will bring a great revival in our nation, that our great country will return to you and be faithful to you. I pray for our lost people, that you would convict their hearts and cause them to repent of their sins and, please, use me and the Christians who read this article to take your word to the world.
