jjackson@henryherald.com Henry County Police seized a large cache of marijuana Thursday in what began as a routine traffic stop. At around 12:30 a.m., Thursday, a Henry County police officer stopped 26-year-old Roderick Lamar Reid, of Atlanta, driving along Jonesboro Road in McDonough. The stop was to address a tag light violation, a minor traffic infraction. "Upon approaching the vehicle and speaking with the driver, the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle," said Police Capt. Jason Bolton. He said that further investigation revealed a backpack full of suspected marijuana on the back seat, and an additional bag of suspected marijuana on the rear floorboard. In all, there were several bricks of suspected marijuana, and more than 100 small, and nine medium-sized, plastic bags containing suspected marijuana, with a street value of approximately $15,000. The total amount of suspected marijuana was approximately 8 pounds, 9 ounces. Police also seized $300 in cash. Reid was arrested and charged Thursday with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He made a $5,000 bond the same day.More like this story
