Crissey retiring as Southern Regional CEO October 1, 2014

Dennis Jack Messman

On April 2, 2009 Dennis "Blue," "Butch" Jack Messman of Molena went to be with our Lord. Dennis has been battling pancreatic cancer since August of 2008. Dennis was born in Fairmont, W.Va., to the late Julia Beryl Messman and the late Dana Thomas Messman on Nov. 14, 1946. Dennis served in the U.S. Army and he retired from Clayton County Police as a lieutenant in 2001 after 32 years of service. During his employment with the Clayton County Police Department, Dennis was a member of the Clayton County SWAT team from 1976 to 1997, and has served as a certifying official for the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association since 1986.

Dennis has been a member of the Flint River Saddle Club since 1984, and the National Barrel Horse Association since 1999. Dennis and his family have competed in the state championships for the Georgia Association of Saddle Clubs consecutively since 1984.

Dennis leaves behind his wife, Susan Reames Messman; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Michael Selman; grandson, Sawyer Selman; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Jack Messman, II, and Shelby Messman; grandsons, Brandon Godby, Dennis "Trey" Jack Messman, III, Dustin Messman and Dalton Messman. Dennis also leaves behind his sisters, Joyce Wilson and Shay Wade; brother, Tommy Messman and sister-in-law Darlene Messman, who was married to the late brother Gary Dana Messman. Dennis has many nieces and nephews which he loved dearly. Dennis will be missed by a large community of softball, police and horse friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Messman will be conducted on Monday, April 6 at 2 p.m., from the New Hope Baptist Church North in Fayetteville, with Chaplain Wally Woodcock and the Rev. Bill Herndon officiating, with entombment to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with honors by the Clayton County Police Department Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Maxima Bustamante Valdez

Maxima Bustamante Valdez, age 84, of Forest Park passed away Friday, April 3, 2009 at Southern Regional Medical Center. She was born in the Philippines Nov. 18, 1924 to Morses Bustamante and Leonia Vinluan. In 1987, she, with her husband and seven children, came to America.

Maxima was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Alejo Valdez, Jr. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Alejo Valdez; children, Rolando (Cristina Santiago) Valdez, Victoria (Renato) Manalastas, Jesus (Teresita Matillano) Valdez, Josephine (John) Sayage, Abraham (Narcisa Reyes) Valdez, Antonetta (Paul) Dittamo; daughter-in-law, Susan Gaa Valdez; grandchildren, Dr. Deana Pauline Valdez, Jamie Kristine Valdez, Vladimir Valdez, Giancarlo Valdez, Kris Albert Valdez, David Matthew Valdez, Joyce Karen Valdez, Daniel Aaron Valdez, Abigail Valdez, Anna Rachel Valdez, Paul Valdez, Maria Isabelle Dittamo and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7, at 11 a.m., at Ward's Parkway Chapel with Pastor Sam Evangelista officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro. Billy Jack Pruitt

Mr. Billy Jack Pruitt, age 73, of McDonough passed away April 3, 2009. He was born in Gadsden, Ala., to the late Junious Lloyd and Nettie Cleo Lyons Pruitt. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, retired after 32 years with Delta Air Lines, was a member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church and the Masons. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Pruitt of McDonough; sons, Jeff (Angie) Pruitt of McDonough, Richard (Tracy) Pruitt of Manchester, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brandon (Jamie) Pruitt, Justin, Jackie and Emily Pruitt, Emily Sego and Kimberly Vazquez; great grandson, Tanner Pruitt; brothers, Lloyd (Peggy) Pruitt of Abbeville, Ala., Jerry (Brenda) Pruitt of Gadsden, Ala.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 4, at 4 p.m., from the Liberty Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Mike Patterson and the Rev. Mike Henderson will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service. Roy E. Wilkerson

Mr. Roy E. Wilkerson, age 75, of McDonough passed away April 3, 2009. He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps, owner of Tara Music and was a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. He is survived by his wife, Velma; children, Keith Wilkerson of Washington, D.C., Sharon Wilkerson Adkins and husband Steve of Sharpsburg, Ga., Lesa Fowler Ward and husband Barry of Hideaway, Texas; brother, James Wilkerson of Gibson, Ga.; sister, Mabel Epperson of Pell City, Ala.; grandchildren Elissa Loner, Evann Loner, Amanda Ward; great-grandchild, Jayden Lee Loner, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 6, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro Worship Center. The Rev. Irvin Pearre, the Rev. Lewis Dawson, and Jack Baker will officiate.
