The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools' review team will conduct an accreditation site visit of Clayton County Public Schools from Monday, April 13, to Wednesday, April 15, to evaluate the school system, and the school board. The team will begin its visit by attending the school board's business meeting Monday, which is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., and the review group will spend April 14 and 15 conducting interviews of school system employees and community members. Wednesday Clayton State University's Honors Student Association will host an American Red Cross blood drive Wednesday, April 15, from 10 a.m., to 3 p.m., in the ballroom of the university's Student Activities Center. April 16 The Clayton State University Gay-Straight Alliance will host a Day of Silence on Thursday, April 16, from 6 a.m., to 6 p.m., in the second-floor loft of the James M. Baker University Center. The event is designed to put the spotlight on lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender harassment. April 18 Jonesboro High School's Parent-Teacher Student Association will hold a "Business Expo Extravaganza," on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m., to 4 p.m., to allow local businesses to showcase themselves for the community. The expo will be held at the school, which is located at 7728 Mt. Zion Blvd., Jonesboro. For more information, call (678) 914-9446. Notes Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, N.C., recently announced Jonesboro resident Elizabeth Fagbile made the school's Dean's List for the fall 2008 semester. Columbia College in Columbia, S.C., recently announced Jonesboro resident Brittney Tanya Flowers, and Stockbridge resident Jessica Patricia Hale, earned spots on the school's Dean's List for the fall 2008 semester. Students must earn a 3.5 grade-point average to make the Dean's List. Ongoing The Clayton County Public Library system offers many services to students, including tutoring programs for those who speak either English or Spanish, and online practice tests and electronic test preparation books for the SAT, GED, ASVAB, and TOEFFL exams.
