The second annual Simply Southern Jubilee Bluegrass and Bar-B-Que Festival is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Nash Farm Park.
The festival is sponsored by the Henry County Parks and Recreation Department, the Henry County Chamber of Commerce/Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Henry Daily Herald newspaper, the Memphis Barbecue Network and Buzzzz'n Magazine.
Proceeds will benefit Nash Farm, and Haven House, a battered women's shelter in Henry County.
Tickets are $5 for adults, and $3 for children ages 6 to 12. Children under 5 will be admitted free.
"We hope it's a huge turnout," said Charles Woodroof, chairman of the Henry County Chamber of Commerce. "In the economic times that we are in, where every dollar counts, what a wonderful way to have an extraordinary time at a very minimal price."
Gates open at 4 p.m., on Friday, and the activities start soon thereafter.
Robinson's Racing Pigs are scheduled for 6 p.m., and again at 7:30 p.m.
The McDonough Rhythm Section takes the stage at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Thomas Tillman Band at 8 p.m.
Other Friday-evening attractions will include hay rides, helicopter rides, pony rides, and a live 92.5 FM radio broadcast from 4 to 7 p.m. "The Andy Griffith Show" characters Barney Fife and Gomer Pyle are also expected to make appearances during the festival.
Saturday's activities will begin at 11 a.m., and include a grill-cooking competition, to give local grillers the chance to compete for cash prizes and win the title of "Best Backyard Griller."
Robinson's Racing Pigs will be featured again on Saturday at 11 a.m., and 12:30, 2, and 3:30 p.m.
Bluegrass music will be provided by Due South at 11:30 a.m., and 1:30 p.m., and the Incorrigible String Band will perform at 12 p.m.
Also performing will be Rolling Nowhere, Adam Ryan Jones, and the Mackie Creek Band.
"This is truly going to be a Henry County classic," Woodroof said. "What a great way to enjoy neighbors, great barbecue, a beautiful park, music and down-home fun, some of Henry County's greatest assets."
Nash Farm is located at 4361 Jonesboro Road in Hampton.
