Pets of the Week - April 23, 2009

Indigo is one year old Shar Pei/Labrador mix. She has been spayed and all vaccinations are current. Indigo came to CCHS after being held as "evidence" in a cruelty/neglect case headed up by Animal Control. Indigo had been taken from situation where she spent day and night, tied to a cinder block, with no food, water, or shelter. Unbelievable as it may be, Indigo has continued to maintain a very sweet demeanor, but she has seemingly limitless amounts of energy. Indigo needs a home where she can run, play, and be the active dog that she now has become.....after having been so severely confined for her "puppyhood". For adoption information, please call Clayton County Humane at 770/471-9436. Visit www.claytoncountyhumane.org to see other animals available for adoption.

This sweet little girl is a 2 year old, black and white domestic shorthair. Miss Liza has been spayed and fully vaccinated. Liza has literally grown up at the CCHS shelter. While feeding a feral colony of cats, a CCHS staff person noticed a tiny kitten that she had never seen at previous feeding times. Liza was clearly frightened and confused, and it was obvious that she would never survive life as a "feral". Liza came to the CCHS shelter, and has been there since coming in as that tiny kitten. No one ever looks at Liza as a possible adoption candidate.....likely because she is black and white, and black and white cats don't get adopted very often. This is such a shame because Liza is an exceptionally sweet little cat. She is good-natured, litter box trained, and gets along well with other cats. Please don't let Liza grow up to be another one of the many black cats who end up living their entire lives at our facility. For adoption information, please call Robin at 770/478-7531.
