A 3-year-old girl reported missing Wednesday in Morrow apparently drowned in a pool behind her house, Clayton County Police said.
Police responded to a report of a girl missing at 2280 Olin Court in Morrow, around 6:40 p.m., Clayton Police Lt. Rebecca Brown said. She said police had not released the toddler's name.
Family members told police the toddler was in her grandmother's care when she went missing, according to Brown.
"The family called after looking for her for approximately 40 minutes. Police arrived and looked for about the same amount of time," Brown said. "One of the officers took a net and was dragging the pool, and up came the little girl. They began to give her CPR."
The child was transported to Southern Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead at 8:36 p.m., Brown said.
She said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation medical examiner would conduct an autopsy. Brown said no charges had been filed in the case.
