Clayton County Police are trying to discover what led to a shooting near Riverdale that left a teenager dead, and one man in critical condition.
Bufus Culver, 17, of Fayetteville, was shot and killed during the incident that started around 4 a.m., Saturday morning, in the 1200 block of East Fayetteville Road near Walker Road, according to Clayton County Police Spokesman Tim Owens.
Bernard Pitts, 24, of College Park, was shot in the upper torso and transported to Southern Regional Medical Center in critical condition, Owens said.
"Apparently, all these guys had been at a club on Campbellton Road. I guess there was a disagreement, or an altercation at the club," said Owens, who did not have information on the name of the nightclub.
Owens said, at some point, several males left the club in more than one vehicle, and the shootout broke out on East Fayetteville Road.
"These guys apparently all drove down there [East Fayetteville Road]. There were 15 or 16 guys out there on the street that did not live in that neighborhood," said Owens.
Owens said it was not clear where the group was headed.
"The crime scene was the biggest I've ever seen. It went about four blocks. There were shell casings and different pieces of evidence scattered around," he said.
Owens said police are checking to see whether there may be surveillance video available at the nightclub where the altercation began.
No arrests had been made in the case, according to Owens.
Anyone with information in the shooting, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477.
