Famed Atlanta rapper and actor Andre 3000 did not have to appear in court Wednesday after being charged with a speeding violation last month.

The rapper, whose real name is Andre Lauren Benjamin, is a member of the popular group OutKast, and co-starred in several films including "Four Brothers" and "Idlewild."

Court files revealed the 33-year-old paid $1,200 in fines on Friday, in lieu of making an appearance in Henry County's State Court on Wednesday.

According to Henry County Police, Benjamin was stopped shortly after midnight on March 28, traveling northbound along Interstate 75 in Stockbridge at speeds in excess of 100 mph. A police traffic report states that Benjamin's 2007 Porsche Carrera was clocked going 109 mph in a 65-mph zone.

Benjamin was reportedly released from the Henry County Jail on $1,200 bond, shortly after his March 28 arrest.

State court files indicate Benjamin completed a mandatory defensive driving course in conjunction with $1,200 in fines paid Friday.

According to state court files, The Law Offices of Troy P. Hendrick and Associates was listed as representing Benjamin at one point, following the traffic stop. A representative with the firm said Wednesday, however, the firm does not comment on issues involving its clients.
