Opal "Jimmie" Shirley
Mrs. Opal "Jimmie" Shirley, age 95, of Jonesboro passed away April 29, 2009. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was the founder of The Senior Citizens Wood-Bee band over 20 years ago. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law John A. Shirley, Jr., and Gilda of Riverdale, and daughter and son-in-law Louise Shirley Hall and Jimmy of Wedowee, Ala.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 2, in the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Marjorie H. Russ Marjorie H. Russ, age 87, of Stockbridge died on Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 1, at 1 p.m., at Pope Dickson & Son-Jonesboro Chapel with Pastor Gary Lester officiating. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Connie Rich, Thomas and Jackie Rich; grandsons, Noah (Cindy) Rich, Daniel Rich, Ryan Rich and Jacob Rich.
