A Hampton woman told Clayton County Police that the brakes on her car stopped working just before she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the side of a Jonesboro home Thursday night.
According to a police report, Tameka Arslan said she was driving on Pine Forest Trail when the brakes on her 2001 Mercury Sable gave out.
"She advised that she tried to put the vehicle in park and tried to engage the emergency brake, however, the vehicle would not stop," the report states.
The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m., Thursday, at a house on Pine Forest Lane near Maple Leaf Ridge.
A teenager was lying on her bed in the portion of the house that was struck by the vehicle, according to the report.
"She stated that the vehicle came through the house and straight for her," the police report states. "She did not have enough time to move, at which time the vehicle struck her bed, and the wall to the bathroom," according to the report.
The girl reported foot pains, and the driver complained of chest pains.
Both were transported to a local hospital, according to the report.
