An altercation reportedly involving five McDonough teenagers has led to criminal charges being filed against each of them.

The suspects, each charged with disorderly conduct, are Donovan Everett Gardner, 18; Devante Demetri Gardner, 17; Derrick Dwain Roberts, Jr., 19; Brandon Jamal Jernigan, 18; and Keith Anthony Wright, 19.

McDonough Police responded to the incident Wednesday, at 101 Marian Way. According to a police report, Officer Larry Gossett was notified of a fight with shots fired at the location, and of a black Mitsubishi vehicle which was allegedly involved in the altercation.

"As I was approaching [the scene], I saw a black Mitsubishi occupied by four black males leaving the subdivision," Gossett wrote in the report.

The officer wrote that he followed the car on Jonesboro Road, until it stopped near a set of railroad tracks. Gossett exited his patrol vehicle, and placed the four occupants of the Mitsubishi in handcuffs until backup arrived.

"After checking the vehicle I spoke to its driver, Donovan Gardner, and asked him what was going on," Gossett wrote in the report. "He told me that they were at his friend's house ... when a black male with a Mohawk pulled a gun and started shooting at everyone."

The driver, Gossett wrote, told police the shooter left the scene in a red Chevrolet Cobalt. It was not clear from the report who the other three occupants of the vehicle were, or how the fifth suspect was apprehended.

"None of the subjects would be truthful about what had taken place," Gossett wrote. "But, they all did admit to being involved in the fight."

The suspects were arrested and taken to the Henry County Jail. Gossett said that in addition to the fight-related charge, Wright was arrested in connection with a warrant out of Morrow.

Donovan and Devante Gardner, along with Roberts and Jernigan, were released from the Henry County Jail Wednesday on $1,385 bond. Wright was also released that day on the same bond amount, but was taken into custody by the Morrow Police Department.

The five suspects are expected to appear in McDonough Municipal Court Sept. 23.
