After nearly two months of registering new students at the district's Family Resource Center, Clayton County Public Schools is moving registration to individual schools, starting today. Registration at the individual schools will continue through Thursday.
Registration is only needed for new students who did not attend Clayton County schools last year, district spokesman Charles White said in a written statement. Children must be registered at the school they will attend during the 2009-2010 school year, White said. Registration will last from 8 a.m, to 4 p.m., today; 11 a.m., to 6 p.m., on Wednesday, and from 8 a.m., to 4 p.m., on Thursday.
Parents or guardians of students must bring two proofs of residency, including utility bills, a lease or mortgage payment; a birth certificate, immunization records and disciplinary information for the child; verification of guardianship; the child's social security number, and a form showing the child was withdrawn from his or her previous school.
"It is our desire for all students of Clayton County to be fully registered, in their seats and ready to learn from the very first day of school," said Dr. Ken Sanders, coordinator of guidance services and counseling for the district. "We hope that parents and/or guardians will take advantage of this initiative and register their children for school."
