Morrow mayor out of hospital

Morrow Mayor Jim Millirons is out of the hospital after spending last weekend at Henry Medical Center with complaints of weakness.

Millirons, who is in his 14th year as mayor, said Wednesday he is at a Jonesboro facility undergoing physical rehabilitation after becoming ill Friday and being hospitalized. He said he was told his condition may have been caused by a combination of high blood pressure and diabetes.

Millirons, 78, said he has had diabetes for about four years, but has managed it through diet. He said he has been out of the hospital since Monday, and has been treated with insulin since falling ill last week.

"I just got weak and they did a bunch of tests," he said. "Now, I'm in therapy to get my strength back."

He said he expects to be strong enough to leave the Jonesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center by the weekend.

Morrow City Manager Jeff Eady said Mayor Pro Tem Virlyn Slaton would preside over Tuesday's City Council meeting, if Millirons is unable to do so.
