lbond@news-daily.com A Fayetteville man is dead, police say, after the pick-up truck he was driving crossed a grass median on Tara Boulevard Monday near Mundy's Mill Road and hit a waste management truck head-on. The 55-year-old, black male, whose identity was not immediately released, pending notification of his relatives, was transported by helicopter to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, according to Clayton County Police Officer Kevin Hughes. The man, who had to be extricated from the pick-up truck, was pronounced dead at the hospital, Hughes said. The incident occurred Monday afternoon in Jonesboro. The driver of the other vehicle, which belonged to Georgia Waste Systems, was not injured, according to Hughes. - Linda Looney-BondMore like this story
