Seven families were displaced Sunday when fire, smoke, and water damage made eight apartment units at 82 Old Mill Court in Riverdale unihabitable.
No one was injured in the blaze at the apartment complex located off of Riverdale Road, according to Battalion Chief Landry Merkison, of the Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services Department. The fire broke out just before 8 p.m., Sunday night, according to Merkison. Merkison said on Monday that fire investigators had not yet determined how the fire started. Our investigators were back out there this morning trying to figure out exactly what happened," he said. The American Red Cross was on hand to help those whose residences and belongings were lost in the fire. "They were notified, and they came out to the scene to assist those who were affected -- with food vouchers and getting them a place to stay," said Merkison. - Linda Looney-BondMore like this story
