Three arrested after chase on I-675

Three suspects were in custody after leading police on a chase along Interstate 675 Tuesday in Henry, Clayton and DeKalb counties.

Authorities say one of the individuals apprehended in the case is a juvenile, and the other two are 17 and 18 years old.

Henry County Police said the incident unfolded when officers responded, at approximately 1:20 p.m., to a "burglary in progress" call at 39 Lillian Circle in Stockbridge. According to Henry County Police Capt. Jason Bolton, a neighbor witnessed the burglary and reported it to authorities.

"They took from the house two flat-screen TVs, jewelry and cash," said Bolton. "One of our officers pulled up to the scene as the suspects were pulling out of the driveway. The three suspects were in a Lincoln Navigator, and they refused to stop for the officer."

Bolton said police pursued the vehicle on Ga. Highway 138 and I-675. The chase, Bolton said, continued through Clayton County and into DeKalb County.

"The suspects wrecked at the beginning of I-285, and crashed into the guardrail," he said. "The three suspects then fled on foot. We arrested two suspects almost immediately following the wreck."

Bolton said a deputy with the Henry County Sheriff's Office assisted police in making the two arrests. The third suspect was apprehended a short time later in DeKalb County, he said.

Bolton added that police believe they have recovered all of the items stolen in the alleged burglary.

The identities of the 17- and 18-year-old suspects were not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
