Pets of the Week - August 13, 2009
Killian is a 1and a half year old orange tabby domestic shorthair. He has been neutered and all vaccinations are current. Killian wandered onto CCHS property, where he was captured and brought inside. Killian was being held at first, so that his "family" (if there was one) could possibly find him and reclaim him. Sure enough, someone came in and claimed Killian. Once CCHS staff could establish that this was really Killian's "mom", we offered to help her sterilize and vaccinate the cat, IF she would just promise to make Killian an "inside only" cat. She agreed, and all the vet work was done, and Killian was returned to her. Less than 2 weeks later, Killian was wandering around the CCHS parking lot AGAIN. Killian was rescued once again, and CCHS staff waited for the return of his "mom". Knowing that Killian was coming from some nearby apartments, it was assumed that "mom" would turn up quickly. CCHS was already planning to ask her to surrender the cat to us, but the irresponsible "caretaker" never returned to get the poor cat that she clearly cared nothing about. Killian is a really, really sweet boy, and will make a great (and very affectionate) cat companion for someone who might be looking for a great big "lap cat".
