Aug. 14-16

Lion of Judah Family Worship Center, located at 6030 Ga. Highway 85, Suite 202, in Riverdale, will host its 2009 conference, "Perfecting a Generation 2 Finish Strong - Governing by Stature, Not Status," Aug. 14-16. A "Prophetic Breakthrough Service" will start Friday at 7:30 p.m. Hourly sessions will take place Saturday, from 9:30 a.m., to 3 p.m. The Saturday evening service will be at 5:30 p.m., and the Sunday service will begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Brad McClary, from Summerville, S.C., will be a featured guest. Aug. 15

The Smooth Ashlar Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star (OES), will host a fund-raiser for Vision Enterprises, Inc. - a small-business incubator and youth empowerment program founded by State Rep. Roberta Abdul-Salaam (D-Riverdale) - on Aug. 15 at 3 p.m., at New Macedonia Baptist Church. The cost is $10 per person and the proceeds will benefit Vision Enterprises, Inc.'s youth programs. Specials guests will include OES Grand Worthy Matron Carolyn Trammell, WSB-TV News Anchor Fred Blankenship, 1570 AM "The Light" personality, Kam Stephenson, Georgia NAACP President Ed DuBose, and College Park Councilman Joe Carn. Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University will take place at Community Bible Church on Sunday, Aug. 16, at 6 p.m., and Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. This biblically-based, small group study teaches families to beat debt, build wealth and give like never before. Aug. 16, 19-21

Cleveland Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church will host its annual homecoming celebration on Sunday, August 16, at 11 a.m., and 3 p.m. At the 3 p.m., service, members of Floyd Chapel Baptist Church of Stockbridge will be the church's special guests. The celebration continues with the church's annual revival, August 19-21 at 7:30 p.m., nightly. Rev. Ezekiel Powers, pastor of the church, will lead the revival.

Aug. 23

VIP Ministries of the Forest Park First Baptist Church will meet Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 10:45 a.m., in the church Fellowship Hall for a special lunch program of interest to senior citizens. This month's program will feature a puppetry performance by "Hearts for Jesus," with Charlotte Woodring, Margaret Robinson, and "Lucy" the puppet. Aug. 28-29

Beth Moore, founder of Houston, Texas-based Living Proof Ministries, will be at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro Aug. 28-29, for a live simulcast entitled, "Living Proof Live." The cost will be $10 for a two-day ticket and $5 for a Saturday meal. Sept. 11

The Garrison Chaplain's Office of the U.S. Army 3rd Medical Command and Operation Worship are presenting a free concert by Bethany Dillon as part of it's Patriot Day Remembrance and Celebration. The concert will take place at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 11, at Building 900 at Fort Gillem in Forest Park.
