Blessed are they whose sins are forgiven - James C. Bell

If you want peace and happiness in your life, you will find it in a true relationship with God.

For those who do not know the great and mighty God, getting a relationship with Him might seem impossible. However, He has made it simple and easy for all.

The Bible, God's Holy Word, tells us in John 3:16: "For God so loved the world"- please put your name in this phrase where the word "world" is -Then it would read, "For God so loved Jack or Jill or James or Mary."

Here, we see that God is saying He loves us! By His grace, His love, He wants to have a special relationship with each one of us! He wants to help us find the real joys of life, because He made us for just such a relationship.

The rest of this great verse says, "That He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."

From this one verse, we are told what we must do to enter this relationship with God: accept and believe in His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. This action, this belief begins with our faith that there is a God, He does exist and He has provided a way, a plan through which one can join Him in a wonderful relationship.

The first thing one must do is to recognize and admit he has sin in his life. The Bible says in Romans 3:23, "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." This means that every person who lives in this world has sin in his, or her life.

Most people know and readily admit this, and know they need forgiveness. The second thing one must do is to repent of his or her sins, which simply means to turn from a sinful life and turn to God, asking Him to forgive the sins through Jesus Christ.

Romans 4:7 says; "Blessed are they whose transgressions [sins] are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him." God does not continue to credit unrighteousness to the sinner who repents, but forgives him when he confesses.

In First John, we find these great verses: 1:8, "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us;" 1:9, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

These are God's promises - they are true! You can take them to the bank. I love the promise He made in Hebrews 10:17: "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more." The New Covenant guarantees that sins will be effectively and completely forgiven.

Those whose sins are forgiven are surely blessed in many ways, not only in peace and happiness, but with joy and satisfaction of a quality life of love, faithfulness, loyalty and integrity.

Please read Psalm 1. In it, we find that man is delighted to live by God's teachings and is fully blessed.

I hope and pray readers, who read this column each week, are saved and in complete relationship with God, for it is the great life, the most blessed life one can live. By loving and believing in Jesus Christ, we find true fulfillment in life and bless and honor our Lord.

I encourage you to keep reading and studying the Bible, praying to Him every day and sharing Christ every time you have an opportunity.

If you know any unsaved persons, please pass this article on to them or take a moment to read it with them, asking if they want true peace and blessings in their life, and if so, why not accept Jesus Christ as their Savior right now.

You could lead them through a short prayer, asking God to forgive their sins in Jesus' name, and assure them He will forgive them.

I pray you will.
