Clayton County Public Schools' Office of Federal Programs will host a Parent Information Fair on Saturday, Aug. 29, to educate local residents on Title I academic programs.
The information fair will last from 10 a.m., to noon, and will be held in the cafeteria of the Eula Wilborn Ponds Perry Learning Center, located at 137 Spring St., in Jonesboro. Representatives from academic departments around the district, including language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, fine arts and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) will be on hand to answer questions from parents, according to an announcement on the school system's web site. Schools that qualify for Title I status, under guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Education, are those institutions where at least 40 percent of students qualify for the federal government's free-and-reduced-lunch program, said Clayton County Schools Executive Director of Federal Programs Sharon Brown. All Clayton County public schools are Title I schools, Brown added. For more information on the fair, call (770)515-7601. - Curt YeomansMore like this story
