It seems like the 2009-10 high school basketball season is just getting stated, but already most teams find themselves locked into region contests.

Action continues around the Southern Crescent tonight with several games featuring the renewal of area rivalries in both boys and girls contests.

Girls games starts at 6, followed by the boys games at 7:30 p.m.

At Jonesboro, the Cardinals entertain rival North Clayton. The North Clayton boys started the season with a three-game winning streak before dropping a 59-53 decision to Forest Park on Saturday.

The Jonesboro boys (1-3) lost the their first three games of the year, before getting back on track last Tuesday against Dutchtown.

In othergames, the Ola basketball teams travel to Forest Park for a Region 4-AAAA doubleheader. The Ola boys (3-0) were involved in plenty of drama Friday, trailing Dutchtown by as many as 10 points late in the fourth quarter, before winning the game in overtime. Forest Park was 0-5 heading into Saturday's game against North Clayton, but the Panthers defeated the Eagles 75-70.

Girls Notes: The Dutchtown Lady Bulldogs had won four games in a row until dropping a 63-50 victory against Luella on Saturday. The Dutchtown girls (4-1) will attempt to get back on track with a game at Mt. Zion tonight.

In other doubleheader basketball games today, ELCA travels to Mt. Pisgah, Maynard Jackson visits Eagle's Landing and Rutland plays at Locust Grove.
