Clayton County police have released a sketch of a suspect who allegedly robbed an elderly man at gunpoint Tuesday, in the victim's Morrow home.
Clayton County Police said Bill Dowis, 76, sells wood out of his home in the 2700 block of Lake Harbin Road.
According to police, after two male customers loaded wood into their car, one of the men got back into the car, while the other went to Dowis' door to pay.
At that time, the man asked Dowis if he could come in and wash his hands, according to Lt. Tina Daniel, a spokesperson for the police department.
"At some point, the homeowner turned around, and there was a gun at his head, and the suspect was demanding money," said Daniel.
She said Dowis gave the suspect some money and four rifles that were in a case.
"As the suspect fled from the house, the victim [Dowis] armed himself, and fired shots at the suspect," Daniel said in a written statement.
The suspect and the other man in the car fled the scene in a white vehicle, possibly a Pontiac Sunfire, she said.
The pair got away with some of the money, and the wood they had already loaded into the car, according to Daniel.
Daniel said it was unclear whether either of the suspects were shot in the incident.
"There may be bullet holes on the passenger side of the vehicle," she said.
The suspects are described as black males, approximately 18 to 24 years old, with dark skin. They were wearing dark clothing, and had their hair covered, according to Daniel.
"The victim reports the suspects telling him they were from the Riverdale area," she said.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the Clayton County Police Tip Line at (770) 473-5400.
