Avery T. "Tom" Salter, Jr.
Avery T. "Tom" Salter, Jr., age 67, of Jonesboro died Feb. 1, 2009 at his home from complications of cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Haggerty-Salter, daughters Deb Salter of Locust Grove and Sandra Salter of Jonesboro, and grandchildren Jamie Blanche, Michael Haggerty, Kristopher Haggerty, and Joshua Watts.
Tom was a proud retired Army major, commanding various EOD units and was awarded several commendations during his service, including the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Medal. Upon retiring, he became an attorney and served as a night/weekend magistrate court judge in Clayton County for 16 years.
He continued to serve his country and community by serving on various military and community organizations, including the State Board of Corrections, IABTI, National EOD Association, VFW, American Legion, state and county bar associations, Kiwanis, and Clayton County Chamber of Commerce. Tom was widely respected and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clayton County Humane Society, 7810 N. McDonough Street, Jonesboro, Ga., 30236.

Richard Wayne Austin
Memorial services will be held for Ricky Austin Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at 11 a.m., at Rock Springs Baptist Church, 5900 Reynolds Road, Morrow.
Ricky graduated from Forest Park High School. He later moved to Friendswood, Texas, to pastor Friendswood Baptist Church. Ricky went home to be with his Lord and Savior, whom he loved and faithfully served, on Dec. 7, 2008.
Adam Alexander Morris
Infant Adam Alexander Morris, born on Jan. 7, 2009, passed away peacefully in the arms of his family on Jan. 31 at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital. Alex touched many lives during his short time here, and was loved deeply. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6, at Horis A. Ward Parkway Chapel, 1000 Forest Parkway, Forest Park, Ga., 30297. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro.
