A person walking on the railroad tracks through Jonesboro Friday afternoon was struck and killed by a train, authorities said.
Norfolk Southern Spokeswoman Susan Terpay said the person was walking southbound on the tracks at 2:55 p.m., before being struck by a 40-car train traveling northbound. Jonesboro Police Chief Brad Johnson said the victim was male. Police said the body was turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's medical examiner. -From Staff ReportsMore like this story
