Nancy Furman Hogard Ahl, 64, of Rutledge died Feb. 8, 2009. She was born Aug. 7, 1944 in Detroit, Mich., to Andrew and Ellen Day Furman. Mrs. Ahl received a master's degree and was a teacher. She was retired from the Henry County Board of Education. She was married to James W. Ahl on Dec. 8, 1993. The Ahls lived in Jonesboro until moving to Rutledge three years ago. Mrs. Ahl was a member of the Delta Epsilon Chi Honor Society, the Henry County and Morgan County Retired Educators, the National Education Association and Madison Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ahl is survived by her husband, James Ahl, and four children, Dawn Davenport (Mark) of McDonough, Jeremy Hogard (Megan) of Lilburn, Lisa Ahl Duncan (Chris) of Evans and Kelly Ahl Paul (AJ) of Oak Ridge, N.C. Other survivors include a sister, Carol Cole, and two brothers, Ron Furman and Doug Furman, as well as nine grandchildren. The family received friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., at A.E. Carter Funeral Home in Madison. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m., in the chapel. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m., at the Odum City Cemetery in Odum, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Madison Baptist Church Faith Fund at 328 South Main St., Madison, Ga., 30650 or to the American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 56566 Atlanta, Ga., 30343.

Joshua Philip Bunn
Joshua Philip Bunn, age 30, of Jonesboro died on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009.
Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m., at Pope Dickson & Son-Jonesboro Chapel with the Rev. Lloyd Hunter officiating. His family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Calvin Bunn, and Jessie and Ruth Alford.
He is survived by his parents, Philip and Connie Bunn; sister and brother-in-law Ruthie Nicole and Casey McRae; grandmother, Louise K. Bunn; nephew, Cody McRae; niece, Savannah McRae and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Joseph "Ron" McVey
Joseph R. McVey, formerly of Wilmington, Del., died peacefully at Healthfield Hospice in Riverdale on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009 after a long battle with vascular disease.
Ron was born Nov. 25, 1949 in Wilmington to Wilber and Frances (Rickards) McVey.
Ron graduated from Christina High School in 1967 after which he served in the Marines. He was employed at Preston Company and at Rollins Truck Leasing Corp., when he was transferred to Atlanta in 1993. In 2001, Ron started his own business in truck driver leasing. It was one of the joys of his life until his recent disability prevented him from continuing.
Ron will be greatly missed by his wife of 27 years, Lorri (Miller). He is also survived by his daughter, Emily C. McVey of Griffin; sons, Patrick J. and wife, Heather, of Jonesboro, Charles L. Wickham and wife, Heidi, of Fayetteville, and Jack Dougherty and wife, Brenda, of Harrisburg, Pa.; three grandchildren, Keira, Jay and Christopher; several nieces and nephews; brother, Wilber L. McVey, Jr., and three sisters, Deborah Street and Pamela McVey both of Newark, Del., and Barbara Spencer of Millsboro, Del. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Wallace "Butch" Carnes and Barry J. McVey, and sister Catherine E. Frias.
Memorial service and interment will be private. Charitable contributions in Ron's memory may be made to The Healthfield Hospice Center in Riverdale.
Silvata J. Lowe
Silvata J. Lowe, age 88, of Barnesville passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009 in the Spalding Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, Doyle Lowe; three daughters, Beverly (Douglas) Bowdoin of Forsyth, Tanya (Mark) Parker of Newnan, and Cheryl Denson of Georgia; one son, Darrell Norris of Forest Park; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Vaudine White of Bristol, Tenn.
Mrs. Lowe is preceded in death by her father and mother, Joseph P. and Nellie Poole Johnson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 10, in the chapel of Horis A. Ward - Parkway Chapel, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Wayne White officiating with interment to follow in Forest Hills Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m.
