Lovejoy High to host fashion show

The Lovejoy High School Parent Teacher Student Association will host the "Passion 4 Fashion - Phase II" fashion show Sunday, at 7 p.m., at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center, 2530 Mt. The Clayton County Board of Education will hold its February work session Monday, Feb. 23, at 6:30 p.m., at the school system's central administration complex, 1058 Fifth Ave., Jonesboro.

Feb. 27

The American Family Theater will present "Black Journey" Friday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m., and 7 p.m., at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center, 2530 Mt. Zion Parkway, Jonesboro. The cost of admission for the show at 10 a.m., is $7.95, while the show at 7 p.m., will cost $7 for adults and $5 for children. For more information, call (770) 473-2875.

Middle Georgia College announced Clayton County natives Ashton Bray, Destiny Crimes and Janae Crittenden made the Dean's List for the fall 2008 semester. Students must earn a 3.5 grade point average while taking at least 12 semester hours of classes.

The United States Air Force announced Airman Darren D. Rice, a 2004 graduate of Mt. Zion High School, has graduated from a six-week basic military training course at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. During his training, Rice studied the Air Force mission, organization, core values, military customs and courtesies, rifle marksmanship, and human relations. He is the son of Dwight Rice of Ellenwood and Patricia Williams of Columbia, S.C.

The United States Air National Guard recently announced Airman 1st Class Jacquaisia M. Johnson, a 2008 graduate of Dutchtown High School, has graduated from a six-week basic military training course at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. During her training, Johnson studied the Air Force mission, organization, core values, military customs and courtesies, rifle marksmanship, and human relations. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carey Jennings of Jonesboro.

The Clayton County Public Library system offers many services to students, including tutoring programs for those who speak either English or Spanish, and online practice tests and electronic test preparation books for the SAT, GED, ASVAB, and TOEFFL exams.
