Clayton State offers tax help in Spanish, Vietnamese


The Atlanta Festival Ballet will perform "Beauty and the Beast" on Friday at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 7:30 p.m., at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center, 2530 Mt. Zion Parkway, Jonesboro.

Clayton State University's Accounting Club recently announced it will offer tax assistance in Spanish and Vietnamese at its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance session Saturday. The Clayton County Board of Education will hold its February work session Monday, Feb. 23, at 6:30 p.m., at the school system's central administration complex, 1058 Fifth Ave., Jonesboro.

The American Family Theater will present "Black Journey" Friday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m., and 7 p.m., at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center, 2530 Mt. Zion Parkway, Jonesboro.

Mississippi State University recently announced Jonesboro resident Mary A. North made the school's Dean's List for the fall 2008 semester. Students must earn between a 3.5 and 3.79 grade-point average for the semester to earn the honor.

The United States Air Force recently announced Airman Alexandre S. Grissom, a 2008 graduate of Morrow High School, has graduated from a six-week basic military training course at Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas. During his training, Grissom studied the Air Force organization, military customs, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. He also earned credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force. He is the son of Sampson and Sheneece Grissom of Morrow.


The Clayton County Public Library system offers many services to students, including tutoring programs for those who speak either English or Spanish, and online practice tests and electronic test preparation books for the SAT, GED, ASVAB, and TOEFFL exams.
