Alice Patricia Carter
Mrs. Alice Patricia Carter: At 1 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 28, a memorial service and celebration of life will be held in honor of Alice "Pat" Carter of Jonesboro, who departed this life for her heavenly home on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, following her sudden and courageous battle with septicemia.
Pat Carter was born on Feb. 5 at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Pa. The daughter of Thomas and Alice Studevan and sister of Russell Studevan, Pat graduated from Darby High School and Cheyney State University. She spent 20 years of her life working for the federal government advocating for children as a child development specialist where she traveled all over the world. She retired to Jonesboro, in 2002. Pat is survived by her brother and cousin Russell and Inez; four children: Kim, George, Craig, and Penny; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, former husband George E. Carter and countless cousins and other extended family.
All friends and family are welcomed to attend the service that will be held at the Greater St. Peter AME Church at 9540 Fayetteville Road on Saturday, Feb. 28. Additionally, a visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 27, at the church, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Potted plants, which should be sent to the Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, 2047 Ga. Highway 138 S.E., Jonesboro, will be accepted to create a memorial garden in her honor.
