Now that the holidays are officially over, local high school basketball teams aren't wasting any time getting geared up for the stretch drive of the season.
It all starts tonight with several key region games in both boys and girls action.
Among the biggest games is Jonesboro traveling to Stockbridge for a Region 4-AAAA contest.
In the girls contest, Jonesboro (11-1) will put its No. 7 ranking on the line in the most recent gasports. Class AAAA poll. The Lady Cardinals have won 10 games in a row.
The Morrow boys are trying to shake their four game losing streak tonight when they take on Pebblebrook.
Morrow had broken into the gasports.com Class AAAAA coaches poll at the start of the season after winning their first six games in a row, but lost four games in a row, falling to Westlake, Mundy's Mill, Lovejoy and Riverdale.
North Clayton takes on Dutchtown in a Region 4-AAAA games between the two Southern Crescent teams.
The Eagles might just be getting hot at the right time of year and come into the game with the Bulldogs with a 9-3 record and a 4-1 mark in league action.
North Clayton finished third in a the Holiday Classic at Westover High School.
In other games involving Southern Crescent team, Eagle's Landing travels to Rutland, Riverdale plays at Chapel Hill and Woodland enterains Woodward.
Another doubleheader between two long-time rivals matches Forest Park playing at Mt. Zion.
Also, Eagle's Landing Christian plays at home against Providence Christian and Luella makes the long trek for a game against Greenbrier.
Elswhere around the Southern Crescent, Lovejoy travels to Creekside, Mundy's Mill heads to East Coweta and Henry County plays at home against Greene County.
Girls games start tonight at 6, followed by the boys at 7:30.
