Norcross woman, Jonesboro youths, arrested in robbery

A 41-year-old Norcross woman, a 22-year-old Jonesboro man, and a juvenile are in custody after Jonesboro Police captured a group of alleged armed robbers shortly after their heist.

Bridgette Marvette Hines, Ricky Timmons, and an unnamed juvenile, were arrested shortly after 11 p.m., on New Year's Day, following a hold-up at the Lucky Grocery Store at 1423 Stockbridge Road, in Jonesboro.

One suspect, Jonesboro police have identified as Geoffory Jupiter, 18, of Jonesboro, escaped. Police said Tuesday they are seeking a warrant for his arrest.

Police spotted a suspicious vehicle speeding away from the Lucky Grocery Store shortly after the robbery, according Lt. Detective Victoria Wright.

"Basically, the officers were patrolling the area and saw them running out the store," said Wright. "Luckily, officers were already there ... the shopkeeper didn't even have time to call the police."

Wright said four suspects, armed with guns, entered the grocery store shortly before 11 p.m., demanding money. One of the suspects jumped across the counter and forced a clerk to open the cash register, the clerk told police.

The clerk was struck in the stomach and left in the rest room, Wright added. The suspects had left the grocery store with about $3,000 in cash when police spotted them, Wright said.

"They were stopped right on Hilltop [Road], which is probably half a mile away," said Wright. When the car was stopped by police, three of the four suspects fled the vehicle, two of whom were apprehended with the help of the Clayton County Police K-9 Unit.

One escaped.

Jonesboro police are trying to piece together how the four suspects may be related, and if the robbery is tied to a recent shooting and armed robbery of a Chevron gas station on Tara Boulevard.

Officer Wright said Jonesboro police have been on high alert since the Chevron robbery and have been increasing their patrols.

"Just being in the area, we were able to apprehend the offenders in this case," she said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the Jonesboro Police Department at (770) 478-7407.
