Robert David Townsend
Robert David "Rod" Townsend, 63, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009.
He was born in Blairsville, Ga., to the late James Andrew and Elizabeth Stephens Townsend. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Townsend, of Jonesboro; daughters, Angie (Tre') Mock, of McDonough, Kellie (Reeves) Mock, Sherrie (Wayne) Everett, both of Stockbridge; 7 grandchildren, Teyler, Hayden, Avery, Mallory, Mason, Colton, and Casen; brother, Tom Townsend, of Cummings; sisters, Sarah Roberts, of Buford, Betty Orr, of Gainesville, Grapelle Thompson, of Winder, Jeanette Vest, of Blairsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 11, at The Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Pastor Barry Kirkwood officiating. Interment will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 10, from 4 p.m., to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Raymond H. Ward
Raymond H. Ward, 87, of McDonough, died on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009.
Graveside services are scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m., at Sherwood Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dan McKay officiating.
His family will receive friends at Pope Dickson & Son-Morrow Chapel on Saturday, Jan. 10, from 7 p.m., to 9 p.m.
He is survived by his sons, Howard R. Ward, of Griffin, and Ronald E. Ward, of Senoia; daughters, Paulette Moore, of McDonough, Deborah E. Farley, of McDonough, and Linda G. Tim Adkison, of Locust Grove, died on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at his home, following an extended illness. He was 45.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 12, at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church, with Tim's uncle, Terry Glover, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, from 6 p.m., to 8 p.m.
Tim was born on Feb. 3, 1963, in Enterprise, Ala., to the late James Junior Adkison and Lois Glover Adkison. For a decade, he worked as a boilermaker and crane operator for Chicago Bridge and Iron. Later, for 20 years, he worked as a long- and short-haul driver.
Most recently, he was employed with Freeman Co., in Atlanta. He was an avid sportsman.
Survivors include his fiancée, Brenda Lamb, of Locust Grove; one daughter, Sabrina Adkison, of Welcome, N.C.; his fiancée's children, Joseph Lamb, Joshua Lamb and Laura Lamb, all of Locust Grove; one brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Pam Adkison, of Elba, Ala.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rhonda and John Rice, of Ozark, Ala., Phyllis and Dale Warren, of Daleville, Ala. Lori and Pat Arthurs, of Auburn, Ala.; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
