The Clayton County Sheriff's Department has arrested two parents and accused them of raping their own daughter.
Sheriff deputies took the mother into custody on Monday at a residence in Atlanta, and the father surrendered to deputies Thursday at the QuickTrip at 1900 Roswell Road in Marietta.
According to a warrant issued by the Clayton County Magistrate Court, the couple "had carnal knowledge with said child, forcibly and against her will" between the dates of March 1, and Aug. 8, 2007, at a residence in Riverdale.
According to Sgt. Sonja Sanchez, spokesperson for the Sheriff's Department, molestation charges are also pending for the husband in Fulton County.
"When the molestation was going on, it was going on in Fulton and Clayton County," Sgt. Sanchez said. The names of the parents are not being published, in order to protect the identity of the victim.
Detective G. Walton, the Atlanta police officer handling the investigation of charges in Fulton County, could not be reached on Friday.
The mother and father, both 33, allegedly gave vodka to their daughter and "enticed her into a bedroom for the purpose of indecent acts," according to a state warrant filed against the couple. The daughter, who refused her father's advances, was allegedly forced to "stand in the middle of the room from 2 a.m., to 3 a.m., until she grew tired."
The father allegedly performed sexual acts on the daughter, while the mother aided the alleged rape, telling the child to "just lay there and do it," the warrant indicated.
The mother never reported the incidents to the authorities, according to the warrant.
While being transported to the Clayton County Jail on Thursday, the father "made a clear confession to Sheriff's deputies that he was molesting his daughter for the last two years," according to Sanchez.
The couple has been charged with rape, sodomy, statutory rape, aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes, incest, and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Both were given a $1,000 bond on the alcohol charges and are being held in the Clayton County Jail, without bond, on all other charges.
The preliminary hearing for the mother will be Jan. 20, at 8 a.m., at the Harold R. Banke Justice Center in Jonesboro, with Judge Bobby Simmons presiding. The preliminary hearing for the father will be Jan. 22, at 8 a.m., in the same courtroom.
A bond hearing for both the father and the mother will take place on Jan. 23 at 8 a.m., in Judge Simmons' courtroom.
