When Jesus Christ was alive and preaching His gospel to crowds, both large and small, He could only reach those within His sight and hearing.
He was physically limited by His humanity, for He could not be in but one place at a time. His plan was ingenious, to teach the twelve (original disciples) specifically, and others who had an ear, to hear, and to empower them to reach the world.
He didn't have the communication marvels of television and radio. He spoke to those surrounding Him. He knew personal witnessing was the best way to spread the Word of God and He commanded all who believed, to witness of Him. This command is still valid today.
I believe one-on-one witnessing is the best way to share the gospel, because it gives the individual an opportunity to hear the truth of God applied to him, along with an invitation to take action then, and pray to receive Jesus Christ as his personal savior.
In John 14: 15-21, Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would be sent, by the Father, to Jesus' disciples: "He is the Spirit of Truth. You know Him for He lives with you and will be in you. I am in my Father and you are in me, and I am in you."
This is speaking of the Trinity, the Blessed three-in-one and the one-in-three. In essence, and in action, the Spirit is characterized by truth. He brings people to the truth of God. All three persons of the Trinity are linked to the truth.
Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God, the Father, gave His Son as a sacrifice for all mankind. By His blood, everyone could be saved when they believe in His death and resurrection.
Jesus completed His Father's will when He gave His life on the cross to pay for my sin and for your sin, for the sins of all mankind. Then, His great plan of salvation was complete. He then gave to mankind a choice: Accept Jesus Christ by placing your faith and trust in Him and receive His gift of eternal life, or reject Him and go to Hell when you die!
After Jesus' death, He was Spirit again and could appear in many places at the same time. In fact, He lives in our hearts today, and can be wherever Christians are today.
This very fact gives us the opportunity and command to realize the blessings of sharing Christ with others. We have the Holy Spirit in us and He will save the lost people with whom we witness, if it is the will of God.
Many believe all people will eventually be saved and go to heaven, but according to the Bible, Revelation 20:11-15, many will not go to heaven. Verse 15 says, "If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."
My Christian friends, brothers and sisters in Christ, this is the very reason we must do all we can to tell others how to accept Christ as Savior. We know many will gladly accept Christ upon hearing His Word, and the fact that God loves them and Christ died for them.
Our job and God's will for us is to go and tell His gospel. What a great message we have to share!
And when we go and witness for Jesus, there is a great blessing in store for us as we see the Holy Spirit saving others as they believe in Jesus.
Don't miss the blessing and privilege of telling the old, old story of Jesus, and feeling the Glory of the Lord as lost ones are saved.
