A candlelight vigil will be held Wednesday to remember Noel Jamal Douglas, a 22-year-old man, who was killed Christmas Eve, while attending a party in Hampton.
The vigil, according to Douglas' mother, Sandra Douglas, will begin at 8 p.m., in a Jonesboro shopping center where police and emergency responders intercepted the car carrying Douglas' body. The shopping center is located on Tara Road, between Tara Pointe Drive, and Panhandle Road. It is behind the Kroger store, located at 10375 Tara Boulevard, in Jonesboro. Douglas' aunt, Glenda Barrett, will speak during the vigil. His mother said friends of the family are working on getting a minister to speak as well. According to police, Noel Jamal Douglas was shot on Dec. 24, at 1:30 a.m., at 1093 Misty Meadows Cove in Hampton. Earlier in the evening, he had attended a Christmas Eve party at a house located down the street from the site of the shooting. After the shooting, Douglas' friends attempted to transport him by car to a hospital. They were intercepted by Clayton County police and emergency responders who planned to provide medical assistance to the 22-year old, but he had died. - Curt YeomansMore like this story
