Pets of the Week - Jan. 15, 2009

Gizmo is an 11 month old Chihuahua/Fox Terrier mix. He has been neutered and fully vaccinated. Gizmo suffered a broken leg at a very young age, but he has healed completely and is as active as any other puppy his age. Gizmo is young and potential adopters will need to consider his high energy level and the need for proper housebreaking. Due to his small size, he will not be adopted into a home with small children. Anyone interested in adopting Gizmo should call Clayton County Humane Society at 770/471-9436. Visit www.claytoncountyhumane.org to see other animals available for adoption.

Niko is a five and a half year old, domestic shorthair, gray and white tuxedo. He has been neutered and all vaccinations are current. Niko was living happily in his home, with his family and his cat-buddy, Tabitha. But then tragedy struck, and Niko's world was turned upside-down. A new baby was born into the family, and she was very ill. Shortly after birth, the baby had open-heart and her immune system was compromised. The doctor instructed the family to remove the pets from the home. Niko (and Tabitha) came to live at the CCHS shelter. It's always hard to see an animal have to come into a shelter, but it's really difficult to see one that has been loved and cared for in a home, suddenly thrust into a crowded, frightening shelter environment. Niko is a sweet, friendly boy who obviously enjoys human attention. He's fairly quiet and even-tempered, and would likely enjoy a calmer home. It will not be required, but he does well the cat that he came in with (Tabitha), and it would be wonderful if they could go home together. For more information, please call Robin at 770/478-7531.
