Mr. Billy Roper, age 67, of Hampton, passed away Jan. 19, 2009. He was born Feb. 5, 1941, in Hall County. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired employee of Sarah Lee Foods, and a member of Little Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Roper was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Roper, in March of 2008.
He is survived by his children, Ricky and Kathy Roper, Sheryl and Donnie Ballew, Randy Roper, Lisa and Brian Garner and Tommy and Brenda Roper; one sister, Betty Youngblood; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, in the Tara Chapel with the Rev. Lee Griggs and the Rev. Kenneth Hester officiating. Interment will follow in the Sherwood Cemetery. The family received friends at the Tara Chapel on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. Horis A. Ward, Tara Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
