Early W. Roberts
Mr. Early W. Roberts, Jr., age 86, of Hampton, passed away Jan. 22, 2009. Mr. Roberts was a fourth generation Georgian. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents, Early W., Sr., and Maude Morris Roberts; brothers, Frank E. and Harold L. Roberts; and sister-in-law Juanita Johnson Roberts. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Canada Roberts, of Hampton; four daughters, Marilyn Roberts and Steve Frolen of Griffin, Ga., Beverly and James Arrendale of Five Points, Ala., Vicki and Gerry Hebert of Alexandria, Va., Edie Roberts of Fayetteville, Ga.; one son, Tommy and Robin Roberts of Jonesboro, Ga.; two sisters-in-law Sara Roberts of Lawrenceville and Janet Roberts of Canton; one uncle, James T. and Joy Roberts of Cumming, Ga., 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He served in World War II in the 123rd Army Air Force in England, France, Germany and Belgium from 1941-1945. In 1951 he joined the U.S. Army Reserve.
He retired in 1982 as a Chief Warrant Officer. During his life he served in numerous leadership positions in the Methodist church at the local and district levels. Churches include St. Luke, Lebanon, Riverdale First United and Jonesboro First United Methodist churches.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, in the First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro with the Rev. Charles Robinson officiating. Interment will follow with Military Rites in the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church Cemetery in Riverdale.

Irma H. Powers
Mrs. Irma H. Powers of Jonesboro passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at the age of 85.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at 2 p.m., at Jones Memorial UMC with interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan. The family will receive friends today, Saturday, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband, William W. "Bill" Powers, Sr., and is survived by her daughter, Mary Ruth and Steve White, Jonesboro; son, William W. "Bill" and Melanie Powers, Jr., Jonesboro; sister, Laura Garrison, East Point; brother, Luke Holcomb, Talking Rock; grandchildren, Chris and Rene White, Tim White, Katie Powers and Alex Powers; great granddaughter, Sophia Angela White; many nieces and nephews.

Doris "Dot" Claire Veazey Haney
Doris "Dot" Claire Veazey Haney, age 73, of Stockbridge, Ga., died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009. She was born in Berkeley, Calif., to the late Harold Albert and Eunice Smith Veazey. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Valerie Haney Nabers. Mrs. Haney was a member of Community Bible Church. She was a dedicated youth counselor and loved to write. But most important she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Haney is survived by her husband, George B. Haney, Stockbridge, Ga.; daughters, Cynthia Haney, Stockbridge, Ga., Tina Robinson, Greeley, Colo., Linda Haney Nabers, Stockbridge, Ga.; son, Fred Daniel Haney, Stockbridge, Ga.; grandchildren, Erica Haney, Kyle Haney, Amanda Kemmerlin, Daniel Nabers, Jeffrey Nabers, John Nabers, Matthew Nabers, Jake Robinson, Zach Robinson; cousins, Dale Rasmussen and Ray Cordy Hyde.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at The Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor Brooks Everett officiating. Michelle Nicole Stone, age 30, of Morrow, died on Jan. 17, 2009.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m., at Pope Dickson & Son-Jonesboro Chapel with the Rev. Tom Shannon officiating.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin Dwayne Adams; children, Katelyn Brooke Kelley, Autumn Michelle Adams, and Jacob Dwayne Adams; mother, Lynn Stone; sister, Dana Stone and her husband, Jesse Launder, and their children, Sadie Launder, Laney Launder, and Eli Launder, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and grandparents.
