A seventh suspect is in the Henry County Jail in connection with a series of thefts at a local BrandsMart USA store.
Jerrell Deforrest Wilson, 25, of Riverdale is charged with theft by taking and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Henry County Police believe Wilson and several others orchestrated a plan in May to steal more than 150 televisions from the BrandsMart, located at 4000 Mt. Zion Parkway, in Stockbridge.
Five men, former employees at the store, were previously apprehended in the case, and charged with 150 counts of felony theft by taking and 50 counts of criminal conspiracy to commit a felony. Those suspects include: Roderick Bernard Adams, 19, of Morrow; Maurice Foster, 22, of Atlanta; Jonathan Charles Chambers, 22, of Decatur; Demario Deandre Norris, 20, of McDonough; Justin Ray Sprueil, 20, of Jonesboro; and Dantelle Antione Smith, 24, of Stockbridge.
Nineteen-year-old Roderick Bernard Adams, of Morrow, is also charged with one count each of theft and conspiracy in connection with the case.
Henry County Police Capt. Jason Bolton provided details Tuesday regarding Wilson's alleged involvement in the thefts. Bolton said Wilson was a friend of Chambers, and would come to the store periodically posing as a customer.
"He would purchase something like a microwave, receive it along with several TVs, and then return the microwave the following day," said Bolton.
Bolton, in a statement earlier this month, said police began investigating the thefts after receiving a call from the store's protection manager for the Atlanta region.
"Detectives ... discovered that 188 televisions were missing from the store," said Bolton. "The value of the stolen televisions was just under $100,000."
Police described the stolen merchandise as flat-screen televisions, ranging in size from 32 inches to 50 inches.
Bolton said police had a warrant for Wilson's arrest, and that he turned himself in on Monday.
Wilson appeared Tuesday in Henry County Magistrate Court, represented by the Public Defender's Office. Judge Robert Godwin set the suspect's bond at $20,000, and bound the charges against him over to Superior Court.
Foster, Sprueil, Adams and Smith are currently free on bond, and their cases have been bound over to Superior Court. Preliminary hearings for Chambers and Norris, who are also out of jail on $20,000 bond each, are set for July 10 in Magistrate Court.
