A fire that severely damaged a Henry County home is believed to have been accidental, though the Henry County Fire Department is taking measures to determine the exact cause of the blaze.
Firefighters responded to a call Tuesday at 6:40 p.m., at 1514 East Lake Road in McDonough. According to Fire Capt. Sabrina Puckett the structure was approximately 40 percent involved in flames when firefighters arrived. "Initial involvement was in a screened-in porch area on the side of the structure," said Puckett. "Fire then spread throughout, burning much of the roof and destroying most of the interior furnishings." No injuries were reported in the incident. Puckett said all occupants of the home were out of the building when emergency crews arrived. She said the cause of the fire remains "under investigation," but appears to have been accidental. The "Henry County Fire Department reminds citizens to have an escape plan and practice their plan, so they can escape their home in the event there was a fire in their home," Puckett said. - Jason A.
