Martin Clair Langmaid
Martin "Marty" Clair Langmaid, 53, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in Cairo, Ga. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 5 at 2 p.m., at Pine Level Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Weaver officiating.
He was born Feb. 7, 1956 in Oregon, Ohio, and was the son of Clair Whitney Langmaid and Jane Eileen Pyle Engel, both of whom survive. On June 10, 1978 in Sandy Springs, he married Rosa Hamrick Langmaid, who survives.
He earned his bachelor's degree in horticulture from the University of Georgia in 1978. Marty touched the lives of all at Wights (Monrovia) Nursery where he worked for 30 years, serving as the technical services manager. Marty also enjoyed a special bond with Rosa's family for the 31 years they were married.
He loved music and enjoyed playing the saxophone and wrestling in junior high and high school. In his spare time, he gardened and worked in the yard to maintain his property and home.
Marty was also an avid cyclist who began mountain biking in 2001 and graduated to a road cycling machine. He participated in the Bike Ride Across Georgia for the past two years, which he enjoyed and trained for all year. He was a great son, brother, uncle, friend, husband and father who loved everyone around him and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, Rosa Hamrick Langmaid of Cairo, Ga., and parents, Clair Whitney Langmaid of Clarksville, Ga., and Jane Eileen Pyle Engel of McDonough, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Lara Langmaid of Cairo; brother and sister-in-law, Andy Langmaid and Jeanette Hamilton of Atlanta; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Bob Smith of McDonough; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family is requesting memorials be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, July 4 at the funeral home.

Terry Milling, age 12, of Stockbridge, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Throughout her battle, Terry maintained her feisty spirit and enjoyed many activities including soccer, ballet, swimming, rock-wall climbing, pottery painting, crafts, American Girl Dolls, shopping and decorating. Terry appreciated all of her family and friends who supported her during her journey. She considered all of her doctors, nurses and caregivers as family, and hoped to work with them as an oncologist at Scottish Rite.
She was born in Atlanta on Jan. 4, 1997. She is survived by her parents, Pam Cawley Milling of Stockbridge and Charles Gordon Milling, III, of Griffin. Terry is also survived by sisters, Mary Corinne Milling of Griffin and India Cawley Milling of Stockbridge; grandparents Ret. Col. and Mrs. T. E Cawley of Valdosta, and Ellen Milling of Griffin; aunts, Melissa (George) Dick of Charlotte, N.C., Sue (Tom) Bartlett of Richmond, Va., Sarah Cawley of Atlanta, and Vivian (James) Jackson of Marietta; cousins, Lauren and Jordan Dick of Charlotte, N.C., Emily, Parker and Blaire Bartlett of Richmond, Va., and Ellen and Merrill Jackson of Marietta.
Her memorial service will be held at St. James Catholic Church in McDonough within the next few weeks.
