Carlos Rodriguez, age 25, passed away Friday in Bartow County. Carlos was a student at Southern Polytechnic State University, studying electrical engineering.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 16 at 6 p.m., in the chapel of Horis A. Ward-Parkway Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Rodriguez will be returned to his home in San Louis Potosi, Mexico, for interment.
He is survived by his parents, J. Antonio and Sulpicia Rodriguez of San Louis Potosi; 10 brothers and sisters, Margareta Rodriguez of San Louis Potosi, Baltazar Rodriguez of McDonough, Carmen Rodriguez of San Louis Potosi, Agustin Rodriguez and Antonio Rodriguez both of Stockbridge, Angie Rodriguez of Forest Park, Roberto Rodriguez of McDonough, Veronica Rodriguez and Griselda Rodriguez both of Ellenwood, and Brenda Rodriguez of San Louis Potosi; 20 nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. Horis A. Ward-Parkway Chapel, Forest Park, is in charge of the arrangements. (404) 366-3522.
Betty Lewis Bates
Betty Lewis Bates, age 72, of Jackson died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Spalding Regional Medical Center in Griffin. She was born May 14, 1937 in Rockdale County, the daughter of the late Roger and Carrie Knight Bates. She was a former restaurant waitress.
Survivors include her husband, William C. "Bill" Bates; children, Zane and Missy Bates, Alice Faye Bates, Karen and D.J. Jacobs; grandchildren, Justin, Alex, Travis, John, William and Sarah; sister and brothers, Helen McDaniel, Charles Lewis, Marvin Lewis, James Lewis and Franklin Lewis.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 15 at 12 p.m., at the Macedonia Baptist Church. The Rev. Lane Sanders will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m., to 12 p.m., at the church. Haisten Funeral Home of Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
