Oak Park Church, located at 2613 Ga. Highway 138 East in Jonesboro, will host its fourth annual Youth, Teen, & Young Adult Revival Service on Friday, July 17 at 7 p.m. Young people from around the area are invited to worship. July 17-19

Gospel Tabernacle in Fayetteville is sponsoring a "Free" Yard Sale at 694 Waterview Drive in Riverdale on Saturday, July 18, from 8 a.m., to noon. All items, including clothes, household items, and food, are free. For more details, e-mail thill@gospeltc.org.

The Greater Works Baptist Church Music Ministry is hosting its Senior Choir's Second Anniversary on Saturday July 18, at 3 p.m. A gospel celebration will take place, followed by food and drink in the church's fellowship hall. The Forest Park Ministers Association will host a Pray and Clean event for Forest Park's Ward 4 on Saturday, July 18, from 9 a.m., to noon. Starting at 9 a.m., participants will meet at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, located at 5241 Ash Street in Forest Park, for prayer and fellowship. From there, participants will deploy to beautify different areas of Ward 4. Everyone who stays until noon will receive a free Chick-fil-A meal from the Forest Park Dwarf House. First Baptist Church of Lovejoy, located at 2347 Talmadge Road in Lovejoy, will host a Vacation Bible School Kickoff Rally on Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m., to 2 p.m. There will be VBS pre-registration for children, ages 3 to the sixth-grade. Dixon Grove Baptist Church, located at 7690 Fielder Road in Jonesboro, will observe its annual Women's Day Celebration on Sunday, July 19. The 8 a.m., speaker will be Minister Theresa Hill of First Lady of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson. The 11 a.m., speaker will be the honorable Dr. Evelyn Wynn-Dixon, mayor of Riverdale.

July 20, 21

Jonesboro First United Methodist Church, located at 142 South Main Street in Jonesboro, will host S.M.A.R.T. (Situational Management, and Response Training), a self-defense course, July 20 and 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $10 per person. Dress in comfortable clothing. VIP Ministries of Forest Park First Baptist Church will host a program of interest to senior citizens on July 28 at 10:45 a.m., in the church's Fellowship Hall. The program will have a Hawaiian theme and will feature Pastor John Bryan, who is associated with the Georgia Baptist Foundation. Gift certificates will be awarded to the best-dressed "Hawaiians." "I Pray for Riverdale!" is collecting school supplies for children at Chateau Forest Apartments and for classrooms at Riverdale Elementary. The group is soliciting the following items: Wide-ruled paper; glue sticks; number-two pencils; crayons (16 or 24 pack); composition books, spiral-bound theme notebooks; two-pocket folders; pump bottles of hand sanitizer; boxes of tissues; one-gallon Ziploc bags; and book bags. Donations can be brought to First Baptist Church, located at 6805 Church Street in Riverdale, on Wednesday, July 29.

Aug. 1

First Baptist Church, located at 1647 Lake Harbin Road in Morrow, will host its 7th annual Tomato Sandwich Party on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. The party is an annual fund-raiser for The Good Shepherd Clinic, which offers free primary medical care to Clayton County residents who are not covered by a health insurance program. Jonesboro First United Methodist Church, located at 142 South Main Street in Jonesboro, will host "Movie on the Corner" Aug. 1, on the corner of South Main and College streets. LAP'S (Love for All People), a Jonesboro-based nonprofit, is seeking gospel artists and artists with a positive message to participate in a DVD project. The organization is conducting auditions for: Lead female vocalists; male and female praise dancers; a male or female trio; male or female spoken-word poets; rappers, and male actors. Proceeds from DVD sales will fund performing arts scholarships for talented, underprivileged youths. Auditions are two minutes. The "Young-at-Heart" Senior Adult Group of Morrow Presbyterian Church has invited the public on a motor coach tour of New York City Sept. 10-15. Red Oak United Methodist Church's Summer Ministry is currently under way. This is a free program open to children, ages 11 to 17, and includes enrichment classes, games, basketball, volleyball, and other planned activities. Seed Planters' Community Church will also host its Summer Food Program Monday through Friday. The church will serve two free snacks and a free lunch to any child 18 years of age, and under.
